The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained a group of Central Asian nationals who were planning a series of terrorist attacks in the May celebrations in Moscow and its suburbs, reports RIA agency.
Terrorist acts they intended to carry were inspired by “heads of international terrorist organizations active in Syria and Turkey”, said the FSB.
The security forces seized from suspect many of firearms and explosives.
While their identity was not revealed, the FSB said that the investigation was still ongoing.
In recent weeks, the FSB said it had arrested several terrorists on Russian territory. Thus, a cell comprising recruiters Daesh was dismantled in the Volgograd region. Its five members were planning to prepare attacks in the region.
At the same time, a taxi driver whose mission was to recruit candidates to feed the ranks of the terrorist organisation was arrested during an operation in Moscow.
