DEIR EZZOR, SYRIA (9:00 P.M.) – Four members of the US-backed “New Syrian Army” have publicly defected to the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in the Deir Ezzor Governorate on Tuesday.
These former members of the New Syrian Army were trained by the US Army and their western allies in Jordan before they left their camp in order to join the Islamic State terrorists near the Iraqi border-crossing.
According to the Islamic State’s official media wing, these former New Syrian Army members surrendered themselves to the terrorist group and then formally announced their defection.
Both the US Army and New Syrian Army have not yet issued a statement regarding these four defectors.
