Rebels in the besieged Syrian city of Aleppo are being supplied with modern weaponry, including the US-made Tow anti-tank missiles systems, the Russian General Staff said Monday.
“On September 14, terrorists launched attacks on the Syrian government forces’ positions in directions of Al-Nasr, al-Ansari, Khan Tuman and Er-Ramusi,” Chief of the Russian general Staff’s Main Operational Directorate,” Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudskoy said. But they met with resistance and retreated to their prior positions.
“According to the information received from various sources, terrorists in Aleppo continue receiving modern weaponry, including US-made TOW anti-tank missile systems,” Rudskoy told reporters in Moscow.
According to Rudskoy, the Russian combat planes based in Syria are constantly delivering airstrikes on militants’ reinforcement routes and weapons convoys in Aleppo outskirts.
