The Secure Fence Act of 2006 was a bill providing for the construction of 700 miles of double-fencing along the US-Mexico border – and Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton all put their hands up and voted ‘yea.’
On October 26, 2006, President George W. Bush signed the Secure Fence Act of 2006 into law stating, “This bill will help protect the American people. This bill will make our borders more secure. It is an important step toward immigration reform.“
Ten years later, this may be hard to believe. But the truth is the three senior Democrats were once in favour of Donald Trump’s controversial plan. Considering they have flip flopped on the election campaign’s most contentious issue, can the moral indignation they have directed at Trump really be taken seriously?
In the Miami Democratic primary debate, Clinton mocked Trump’s plan to build a order wall.
“First of all – as I understand him – he’s talking about a very tall wall, right? A beautiful tall wall,‘ Clinton said, as she channeled Dr. Seuss and laughter rang out. “The most beautiful tall wall, better than the Great Wall of China,” Clinton mocked, “that would run the entire border, that he would magically get the Mexican government to pay for – and it’s just fantasy!”
Yet Hillary voted for this “fantasy” in 2006. In fact, before the current election season, she even boasted about voting to build a border wall.
