BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:35 A.M.) – A violent confrontation broke-out inside the provincial capital of the Dara’a Governorate on Sunday morning, marking the first time this year that clashes have taken place in the city.

According to local activists in Dara’a, the clashes broke-out between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and rebel forces inside the Al-Manishiyah District of the provincial capital.

Rebel activists claim that their forces launched a new offensive to seize the Al-Manishiyah District from the Syrian Army.

For much of the year, the Dara’a Governorate has been relatively quiet, with all groups mostly adhering to the nationwide ceasefire, despite a few breaches near the Sweida border.
